When I was trying to find a perfect housing for underwater iPhone photography I was very surprised by the library of videos that ValsTech has produced answering any questions I had (how to operate it, performing regular maintenance, and demonstrations).
The housing came with easy to read setup instructions. After a few moments of getting used to holding it with and without the grip tray and operating the contact arms and different capture buttons, it became very easy to use.
During the first few dives, it was a fun experience figuring out how to maintain buoyancy with the added weight of the camera in my hands while trying to keep my hands steady so that each subject was in focus. The wide angle lens is amazing it works as you would expect.
Everything was working great for the first 10 dives, then the trigger rod in the handle of the grip started to get stuck eventually making it impossible for me to use the trigger at all. This lead to a slightly frustrating dive where I would see a subject and compose my shot, try to squeeze the trigger and feel that it was jammed, then readjust my grip to the housing to use the capture button on the display resulting in a rushed blurry image of the subject leaving the desired composition. After the dive, I dunked the housing in fresh water and tried to use the trigger again with no success. I decided to disassemble the grip and remove the trigger rod and manually wash everything then I put a thin coat of the provided silicon gel around the rod and that did the trick, the trigger was easy to use and everything worked as designed for the rest of my trip.
